The skates I had originally were awful and wouldn't work in this terrain at all. I ended up retrofitting a few myself with material that I found from places that I probably shouldn't even begin to divulge. It's top secret. But now, she can use them anywhere, even on carpet or swamp gunk land, and she's beginning to master Starlight Express.
